AP Professionals has partnered with a local, established company that has been in business for decades and is in search of a Senior Logistics Coordinator. The ideal candidate will manage truck shipping logistics, support transportation operations, negotiate freight rates, and maintain carrier and customer relationships. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for continuous growth internally. 3-5+ years of experience within trucking transportation and logistics is required.
This is a 100% onsite role, with hours of 8AM to 4PM, with some flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage truck dispatching operations for both bulk and bagged materials.
- Supervise product transportation during peak seasons and oversee the movement of non-product commodities in the off-season.
- Secure and negotiate freight rates for bulk and bagged materials, analyzing trends and transportation scorecards to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Plan and monitor shipments of bulk and bagged goods to ensure on-time delivery.
- Support the team in fostering operational excellence, driving continuous improvement, and promoting collaboration within the business unit and with external stakeholders.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with carriers and customers.
- Maintain clear and open communication channels, provide constructive feedback, and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Travel within the company's network to strengthen relationships with truck carriers.
- Actively contribute to business growth through proactive engagement and innovative strategies.
- Enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness through strategic planning and process improvements.
- Make informed business decisions using data analysis, forecasting, and budget insights.
- Support the daily management and operations of the trucking company.
- Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and road safety standards.
- Oversee adherence to DOT rules regarding Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and ensure proper usage as mandated.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field
Experience
- 3-5+ years of direct logistics experience required.
- Proven experience in the transportation industry.
- A current CDL license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Expertise in pricing strategies and cost control with a strong ability to plan, manage operations, and maintain competitive positioning.
- Preferred knowledge of transportation-related regulations, including DOT and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) requirements.
